The first disc from the Psalmus label is this anthology, presented as a double CD. It invites the listener to discover the oriental side of Byzantine hymns through the Feasts of the Virgin, Holy Week and Easter. Through the anthology, the Western ear discovers a new musical universe, where the beautiful and free vocal gestures are deeply touching.

Born in Syria, Maximos Fahmé created and directed the Aleppo Byzantine Music Choir. His interpretation of Byzantine music in Arabic and Greek, as well as his own compositions make him a unique and particularly moving witness of the Byzantine tradition which he helps keep alive.
