Composed as a tribute to the Angel of the Revelation, who lifts up his hand to heaven, saying “ There should be Time no longer”, the Quatuor pour la fin du Temps is written in a essentially spiritual musical language, which draws the listener into a sense of the eternity. Its eight movements are based on the perfect number of seven, the creation of six days made holy by the divine Sabbath, which prolongs itself into eternity and becomes the eighth, of unfailing light, of immutable peace.
